Mediation in family disputes...
All families experience conflict and for most it is resolved without long-term
damage. Sometimes disputes are between children and their parent(s) or siblings;
some involve only parents or partners; others involve the extended family or neighbours.
It is common for some disputes to be taken to solicitors and this may be totally appropriate. However, even the legal profession has acknowledged that there are alternatives to expensive adversarial approaches to breakdowns in relationships which are less damaging to the parties and any children involved. Sometimes solicitors and mediators work in co-operation with each other.
The early involvement of mediators in disagreements within a family or between families may well help resolve at least some of the issues before acrimonious litigation is embarked upon at great expense. Disputes may involve outside agencies where they have an interest in the dispute being resolved, often for the benefit of community safety and wellbeing.
Out of Conflict is better than being locked in conflict.
